Meet Team Lahey:
Ashley Spongberg

An epileptic seizure could have killed Ashley Spongberg. Luckily, her best friend saved her life, and her colleagues in Beverly Hospital’s operating room came to her aid when she wasn’t able to drive to work. Now the surgical technologist is running the Boston Marathon with Team Lahey to raise money for the surgical suite.

After two high-risk pregnancies and a cancer scare, Stefanie Smolinsky learned she can overcome anything. That includes running the Boston Marathon to raise money to pay back the doctors at Beverly Hospital who brought her two kids into the world safe and healthy.

Bank Gives $150,000

Addison Gilbert Hospital’s capacity to care for the elderly will expand, thanks to a $150,000 donation from Cape Ann Savings Bank. The gift will allow the hospital’s acclaimed Senior Adult Unit to grow from 12 beds to 20.

For the Love of Philanthropy

The annual Hearts for Health luncheon on Valentine’s Day raised $21,000 for the expansion of Addison Gilbert Hospital’s Senior Adult Unit. The fundraiser, hosted by Jane Fonzo and Frances Ferrante, mother of State Rep. Ann-Margaret Ferrante, was dedicated to the memory of Brian Tarr, brother of State Sen. Bruce Tarr.
