With non-urgent and elective surgeries canceled, operating room nurse Alicia Herlihy, RN, LSO, knew she had to step up to treat COVID-19 patients. She volunteered to work in the Emergency Department for "as long as it takes."

As more COVID-19 patients came into Beverly's Emergency Department and visitations had to be limited, Heidi Prieur, FNP, saw how important it was for patients to be able to communicate with their families. She put out a call for tablets to facilitate video chats, and Noah Hano delivered.

A running club based out of Old Planters Brewery in Beverly couldn't run together because of social distancing guidelines, so they decided to hold a virtual fundraising run. Beverly Hospital gratefully received their gift of more than $12,000 for the Healthcare Heroes Emergency Response Fund.

Cancer hasn't stopped because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Now that the June 27 Lahey Cancer Institute 5K Walk & Run has gone virtual, you can run the race from anywhere and raise money for programs and services that directly benefit patients with cancer.
